Sangare Tented Camp

Location: Sangare Tented Camp is located on a 6,500-acre private ranch in the northern foothills of the Aberdare Mountains in Central Kenya. The camp overlooks a magnificent freshwater lake against the backdrop of Sangare Hill. It is 180 km north of Nairobi, 20 km from Nyeri town, and 40 km from Nanyuki. The spectacular views across the vast savannah make Sangare one of the richest private wildlife sanctuaries. The terrain hosts elephants, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, leopards, warthogs, among many others.

Accommodation: Sangare hosts 12 spacious tents that are tastefully furnished with four-poster beds and African rustic furniture. All tents have a private romantic verandah with a cozy lounge overlooking the stunning Sangare natural lake. Every tent has a modern en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet and shower. When opened, each tent is specially designed to give a breathtaking view of the early morning sunrise against the lake. Tents are either twin with two queen-size beds or double with a four-poster king-size bed.

Honeymoon suites are also available and are nestled amongst the bush, each having a unique view of the surroundings and wildlife. Honeymooners are treated to bubbly, chocolate-coated strawberries, naturally grown organic fruits from the garden, amongst other surprises. Also provided are romantic candlelit dinners in the privacy of your verandah while enjoying the spectacular sunset against the lake.

Dining: The main lounge and dining area consist of a high thatch roof, the ridge-lines of which emulate Mount Sangare, over which it looks. Drinks and snacks are available in the lounge throughout the day. Meals can be enjoyed in the main dining room by the fireplace or on the terrace overlooking the beautiful lake. All meals are made from pure organic vegetables and fruits grown in the garden. All bread, pastries, and pies are also homemade. The specialty dish is the ‘Rainbow trout’ from the famous ‘River Horny’. A wide range of tastes, including vegetarian specialties, are also catered for.
